
Roaming around in Tagaytay is our first plan to
raised up our boredom. Then suddenly, something pop in my mind along the road.
It's the Puzzle Land (Puzzle Mansion). A place where we can find the Guinness
World Record holder of thousand jigsaw Puzzle. Gina Gil Lacuna a 61 year old,
friendly, very eloquent and gracious Lola holds the record-breaking puzzle
collection. A Total of 1,050 puzzles (as of July 28, 2013) in different sizes,
colors, themes and dimensions (3D and 4D puzzles) are displayed at the Puzzle
Mansion, located in Cuadra Street along Barangay Asisan in Tagaytay City. Nanay
Gina also conducts personal tour and tells story about her collections. Every
puzzle has a story, history and character. Her first ever one, the 5000-piece
Disney puzzle she bought for her son 27 years ago. It was her first
masterpiece. She bought it during her trip in Hong Kong. From then on she
thought she could start putting pieces of jigsaw puzzles together.
She beat the
reigning Brazilian Luiza Figueiredo in the Guinness World Records for having
the largest collection of Jigsaw Puzzles in the World. Aside from Lacuna’s huge
jigsaw puzzle collections, the Puzzle Mansion also has hotel-like amenities
such as a swimming pool, a 400-square-meter function room and a 24-hour café.
Quick Fact:
- Puzzle Mansion started as a summer house in Tagaytay. It is open to the public after the Guinness World Record ceremony (November 29,2012). They decided to open this to the public because some people wanted to see the puzzles, they wanted to spend almost the whole day looking at each paintings.
- Aside from the application fee to challenge an existing Guinness World Records holder, you have to spend at least 2 million pesos to bring the Guinness World Record organization here to validate your application and to spend on the actual awarding ceremony.
